Allegory


Definition: a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms; figurative treatment of one subject under the guise of another.

Literary Example:
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell is a literary example for allegory because there is a representation of a certain character that means something completely different.
-animals represent political symbols (pigs represent the government, dogs represent the police)

Cinematic Example:
Lord of the Rings
This movie could be an allegory because of the ring. The series of movies is basically a conquest to acquire the ring. This ring could be a symbol of anything political or social.
